Greg- When I mentioned Silk ans Steel strings, I was considering that a child of nine would be playing the instrument. I assumed that lacking the hand strength, that these would be preferable, and to go for dexterity and correct hand position. I agree with MTed that a bit heavier string would make it sound better but I would try a Light guage set first, with a 10 on top. Sorry, didn't mean to confuse. Dave
