Goldsmiths College, University of London, Lewisham Way, SE14/ 6th December 2009, 2-5pm /£5 or £3 concessions

The Jews Harp is an international musical instrument that can be used melodically, rhythmically or atmospherically – in fact like any other musical instrument. Michael Wright is an exponent and enthusiast of the instrument and will be sharing his skills during a three-hour workshop. The Guardian has described Michael's sound as like something off a Neu record - if you want to have a listen like then follow the link to our myspace and we have a couple of tracks from the Wright Family (all Jews Harp players) posted up there.

Michael sits on the Board of the Islands of the North Atlantic Jews Harp Association, plays as a member of the Gillie Boys as well as with his family, and has recorded for the BBC and has been commissioned to write a book on the Jews Harp for SOAS.

Jews harps will be provided and can be purchased at cost price. The basic techniques will be taught and ideas on how to take the instrument further discussed, but if you find you really enjoy playing it, expect a life-time of learning and finding out what fantastic things you can do with "the most ancient of instruments with a most modern sound".

Drop us a line to reserve a place or for further info. A pleasant and educational way to spend a Sunday afternoon I am sure you'll agree.

Love from Kit & Cutter x
