I agree w/ beeliner---Jeremy Brett was, to me, the best and truest to Doyle (and I grew up w/ Rathbone). I know many say that House is a take-off on Holmes but I must say that Monk is even more so---in the most humorous way. Monk has foibles (to say the least), his nurse/asstnt is the Watson and, certainly, Stottelmeyer is LeStrade. By the way---I thought no one could top the Sharona character but the actress who replaced her as Natalie played a much better role with a lot more warmth As to the film--have not seen it and won't be doing so. Hate to have an image of cool intelligent sleuthing shattered w/ the effects and the violence which was not what Holmes was about---except for Reichenbach Falls. The End. Bill Hahn
