There are those who will say that a 12 should be tuned three semitones down from Concert, and then capoed at the third fret. Incidentally : the third strings should be tuned in unison, not in octaves. This is where the characteristic "jangle" of the 12 derives. Enjoy, but it is a very different playing technique from the standard guitar.
