Hay all, I am trying to put together a band in the central New Jersey/greater tri-state area. I call this kind of musical melange (alternately) ZydeFolk or Mars-iachi music. The names are somewhat interchangeable in my mind. Here's basically where I'm at: I play blues, but I am not a Chicago clone (in short, the "one" isn't always followed immediately by the "four" and the "five" consecutively). I play folk, but I don't play enough trad for the traddies or enough neo-folk for the NPR crowd. I sing Cajun music (I have family from the Gulf) and Tejano and Norteno music, but I don't pretend to have any more than a basic grasp of Spanish and a light dusting of pidgin French. It's good-time music, ballads, blues and big fun. I play guitar, harmonica, rub-board, spoons, kazoo, and other various noisemakers. Any takers? zydefolk@gmail.com, y'all. Regards, FG
