I booked Fred (and Chris Newman)in the 70's when I ran the Hogsty Folk Club in Aspley Guise. They did a great night. Fred stopped at my house and that's where he got 'Oldest Swinger in Town'. I had a tape of a live folk club set by (the late) Iain MacKintosh and played him the song. Next thing I know he's recorded it. Noel Edmonds championed it and played it a lot on radio and it became a hit. I too still sing 'The Folker'. He came over as a nice man.
