Ah, OldDude, you underestimate the passionate attachment between a child and a blanket. My Godson (age 25) cooried doon with his beloved blankie for years and years. One day when he was about 10 or 11(!) and otherwise well-adjusted, his mama stole it away for a long-needed washing and it sort of floated apart in the wash... still, he persisted in tucking the shreds into his pillowcase so he could touch it while falling asleep.

On a visit home from college, years later, he accidentally left his wallet. We found a grey scrap of that old blanket tucked in between his driver's license and his student ID card!

Here's wishing and hoping your own wee grandbairn gets as much loving use and comfort from his own handmade treasure...but don't you be too surprised if it wears out in less than 40 years!
