Boy, does that one bring back memories. My parents, God bless them, were devotees of Lawrence Welk. I may have become a musician in self-defense. He had a piano player named Larry Hooper who did all the basso profundo singing solos, mostly novelty numbers like this one. "Minnie" was like a signature song for him. When he sang the "Down at the bottom of the sea" part, windows would rattle and seismographs would record it. |
