I'm somewhat stunned to find this post buried deep in Mudcat - must have missed it!...

When I was at Whitby last month I was talking to Duncan McFarlane about the Summer Weekend at the Green Dragon, Hardraw.
He assured me it was going on this year but I can't find the details anywhere.

...I must point out, I'm NOT the landlord or the 'organiser' - just a performer.
I haven't seen much in the way of publicity...
But I do assure those on here that this annual event IS taking place!

I can understand Tig's (and no doubt, many other's) confusion...
A 'new' event took place at the same location (end of Apr, start of May) which ALSO dubbed itself the
'Hardraw Gathering' - but was largely concert-based and charged full w/e festival-type prices!
Tig told me that she & others didn't go cause the 'Gathering' had 'moved its time-of-year and now 'cost'
- where previous gatherings had been 'free' and 'participant-based'.
They thought the 'new one' was the established 'Hardraw Gathering'!

Ah well - there's TWO mini-fests now... not one - grand!
I wonder why (to avoid confusion) landlord, Mark, didn't choose a different name for the new one?
I'll beat that info out of him (despite his size!) at the end of next week!!

And so.... in an attempt to be informative/helpful...

The year 2010 'Hardraw Gathering' takes place, as ever, at the back end of July...
specifically on Fri-Sun, 23-25th July

As ever, it will be primarily a 'participants festival'...
There'll be various rooms dedicated to singers, as well as musicians, sessions -
a real come-all-ye!
Workshops (for guitar, songwriting, and more!)...
Dancing troupes over the w/e (as ever) -
And, weather-permitting, bandstand concerts in the grounds leading to Hardraw Force waterfall...
...all for free!

Camping available on the 'improved' site...
Rooms at the inn still available for booking (at time of typing!)
A 'commercial' Campsite right next door...

Besides all the free stuff...
There will also be Concerts on, in the Green Gragon's main 'hall' Fri and Sat night
Various artists in those concerts - and elsewhere throughout the premises all w/e....

The sessions have traditionally gone on, in the bar rooms, till almost dawn Fri & Sat!!
