Just had a look a Worcesterfolk.org, plus Mr Red's pages for Worcestershire and there seem to be plenty of sessions and clubs in that county. I've never been to a folk club that objects to new people coming in and while many of the ones around here (Dorset) are in bars (or annexes of bars) they're usually pretty empty and the folk session provides the majority of the customers. 'Near' is obviously a relative term, but I think it'd be difficult to live more than ten miles from somewhere hosting a session or club. As I understand it, what Green Man is looking for involves singing. It doesn't take long to pick up on songs. I think.
