Hi Folks
Thanks again for the help. You deserve the full story so here goes.

Some 50 years ago, a young, beardless, shorthaired me played bass in a country band at Kirknewton USAF base just outside Edinburgh. I was the only Scot in the band, the rest being US servicemen. The lead guitarist was a Chet Atkins playalike called Jim Cobble. I got on well with Jim and his wife Elaine and when there first child, Elaine, was born in an Edinburgh hospital, I held her in my arms when she was less than 12 hours old. After a couple of years, Jim was posted away and we lost touch.
Jump on to 2005ish. I was preparing a pre-recorded radio show and was using a Chet Atkins track. Chet had not long died and I checked out the Internet for some facts about him. I got on to the website for the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society and found a list of tributes. Tucked in there was one from a Jim Cobble! I went for it and sent a brief e-mail asking if he was the same guy. Got a reply within 10 minutes enclosing a black & white picture of the band! Yep! The very same Jim Cobble!
We stayed in touch and I had a couple of great holidays with Jim and his family in Millington, West Tennessee. It was as if we'd never been apart and the 50 years between hadn't happened. I was welcomed into their family and circle of friends.
Jump on to this year. I knew Jim was ill, had been in hospital and had been allowed home with daily visits from Hospice. Elaine and Sylvia kept me posted but I was reluctant to keep asking about his health and disturbing them at such a difficult time.
Jump on to last Friday. I was not sleeping too well and got up about 4.00am our time and set myself down at my nice new laptop. I don't use Facebook very much but I had an e-mail saying ******** wants to be your friend. I was happy to accept and clicked on the link, checked on my page and thought I'd check on Sylvia to see how Jim was doing. Sadly, Jim had passed away and the funeral was over.
I was doing a radio show Friday morning and, because I knew there were a couple of clips of Jim playing on YouTube, tried to record them to do a little tribute to Jim on my show. You can imagine my annoyance when I discovered I couldn't record, hence the message to Mudcat.
I did have enough to give Jim a tribute, playing a track by his son, Jeff accompanying Jim's granddaughter Ashton, a track of myself singing "The Hug Song" a song that Jim had backed me on several times at The Strand Theatre in Millington and finishing with "I Bid You Goodnight" by Tom Rawson., a song I love and have ticked to be played when it's my time to go.

Now you know the whole story, Thanks guys!
