The words to this song are in the DT Database. I was only remarking that the writer was not LW III. The recording that I have of it by the Ripley Wayfarers is 1974 and the writer of it was named Pete Mundey. It is quite likely that John Conolly and Bill Meek didn't know who the composer was when they did the sleeve notes to your 1979 LP. That happens frequently with "folk" songs as they tend to get passed round orally and nobody knows who wrote them or indeed if they or new or old.
There are only minor differences between the DT lyrics and the recording I have, which is probably earlier that LW III's
Actually, if you listen to the lyrics its clear the song should be sung by a woman, so I doubt if Faith Petric had to alter them. Or are you saying that her version is that of a man talking about his wife? Why not post them here so we can see the difference.
Regards John
