The other point about "gatekeepers" is that it does this rather clever job of giving with one hand and taking with the other - it says "authority" and implies "illegitimate". I mean, Moulettes 'not folk', say recognised arbiters of what is folk and what isn't wouldn't make nearly as good a complaint. Tom - can I quote you on my blog? I started writing a reply here but it got too long and involved for Mudcat, so I'm going for a blog post. In other news, would Suibhne like to come in again and give me the line about Anglo-Saxon texts? I think people may have missed it.
