Someone born in 1935 could well have had his musical taste set PRE rock 'n roll -- most of the suggestions have been after the dawn of R 'n R. I would go with any big Hank song (he died on New Year's Day, 1952): Hey, Good Lookin'; Cold, Cold, Heart; I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You); Mansion On the Hill, etc.
