Thanks, folks. I'm going out today to see what I can find. Someone told me of a place I might be able to rent a guitar by the week (but I don't think I should take a rental on an airplane). I've got a couple of pawn shops to try as well and I'll probably go by a real guitar shop just to get some price information and familiarize myself with some brands I don't know. My ideal would be a very cheap guitar in playable condition that I can take with me to New Mexico. Bonus points if it sounds good. If it survives two flights then I have a second guitar for emergencies and I can rent a better instrument, or borrow one, for the studio session in two weeks.
