If they were to go into court then they would have to explain how the detector vans work and are calibrated. Police do the same with radar, but they usually say the camera/radar was calibrated at (say) 9.00 am and again at 12 noon and 5.00 pm and it was done by....... We don't know about detector van because the BBC have never gone in court to explain.
