Only just found this thread via Google. Jack, the Old Swan Band haven't been to Whitby Festival for decades so I'm guessing that the band you saw was Phoenix, run by former Old Swan melodeonist and founding member Rod Stradling. Rod and Danny Stradling left the band 29 years ago in 1982. I know it takes some people a while to catch up on things but I received a telephone call last weekend from a guy who rang to say how much he was enjoying the new album and to ask why Rod Stradling wasn't on the album. Colin Irwin has just reviewed the new CD in fRoots and describes us as 'reassuringly warm and familiar' and bracketing us with the Shipping Forecast - praise indeed!
