I think I may have had success. I often say :

"Its this great resource on the internet where loads of singers and musicians discuss folk music from around the world"

I then go onto say:

"You can start threads or input ionto threads one many topics like getting song words to adviceing someone on the best guitar to buy"

Than I finish off with :

"The address is www.mudcat.org"

Ok so I don't say it like this every time but thats my sort of formula, brief to the point and it explains what its a bout. OK there is loads more I can say to but a non catter member I recon that all they need to know.
