I have had this song stuck in my mind for years, even though I only heard it once on a folk music program on the radio. Perhaps someone recognizes it; I've had no luck with google, youtube, etc. I'd love to find out who wrote/performed it. This is the first verse, as I remember it: My daddy built this town, he built this mill We live up on a mansion on the hill We had slaves before the war We don't need them anymore Money talks Money always will My daddy built this town, he built this mill The song tells the story of the son of a rich man; and as it unfolds, you realize he's murdered his girlfriend, and gotten away with it.
