First, Willie is a personal friend of mine and he CAN do any darn thing he wants anymore... and well. "Possum" is 'ol Jonesie's nickname because he would get drunk and get scarce before many a show back when... I saw him recently and he was AWESOME! Still the greatest country ballad singer ever... Hank was the first great songwriter in country history, Jimmie Rodgers brought the blues influence that Hank picked up on, and we all know what that red-headed troublemaker down Austin way did once he got ahold of Bee, Bobby, Paul, Billy, Jody and Mickey (his band members; bass, piano, drums, percussion, 2nd guitar and the master of the harmonica). As soon as people like the Stanley Brothers were no longer being included in "country" shows, the shows stopped representing ALL of country. My grandmother is 93 years old and the first in her family to have been born here (all from Poland) and she doesn't play any cheatin' songs... but to hear her wrap her old farmgirl voice around "Oh, give me a home"... now THAT'S country...
