Barry Finn: I looked at the 20 hits on the data base. I didn't recognize any of these songs although some of them will go with the tune I know. But I cannot understand why one gets so many hits that seem totally extraneous. In fact, I don't understand the search algorithm. I thought that strings in brackets had to match exactly with a string in the text for it to be a hit. Apparently that is not so.--- But to the song, brad3555@hello.net.au, the one I heard as a boy had "Oh, that girl, that pretty little girl// That Girl I left behind me// Rosy cheeks and curly hair// That girl I left behind me." But that's all I remember. My grandfather who was born during the Civil War played this tune on his violin for a kind of dance. Don't remember the dance, I was too young. - Philip Hudson
