Just to say that I drove through the Cross Of Spancilhill on the road from Tulla to Ennis in Co. Clare not two hours ago and all was quite there. My father reckoned that the famous Horse fair - held yearly on the Eve of Summmer Solstice - has been going on at the famous Cross since pre-Christian times. T.B. R.
