Back in September I was scheduled for knee replacement surgery and my pre surgery lab tests revealed that my blood sugar number was 371. I had no idea that I was type II diabetic. My surgery was postponed a month, I was started on Metformin and amaryl and my numbers got down to a normal range, at least a safe enough range to go ahead with the surgery. Lost 22 pounds in a month just eating right and doing the only exercise my knees could tolerate, the stationary bike. On October 26th I had dual knee replacement surgery. Today I am working towards getting my meds decreased, I am still trying to lose weight and my knees feel great! It is hard to avoid carbs especially with as much as I love breads, Pasta and sweets! But it can be done...I struggle but I have kept my numbers in a good range. My A1C number went from 9.9 in September to 5.9 in February... Frank
