A point worth mentioning might be the distinction between "hunting" and "coursing" hares, which are two distinct "sports". The hare is "hunted" by scent with a pack of dogs called beagles which can take hours - as per the song "The Innocent Hare". "Coursing" is a series of short competitive high speed hunts by sight, each competition with pair of dogs called greyhounds - as per the song "Master McGrath". Both sports are still popular in Ireland.
