A book I've read recently tells me that the Oak Island gold is the lost treasure of the Templars, including the Holy Grail. It reads like crackpot stuff, but interesting. "The Holy Grail Across the Atlantic". It's tied in with the "Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" complex of conspiracy theories.
