We used to sing it in Girl Guides (Suffolk, England, 1960s): pretty much as "Here Ya Go" has given it, except that we also had the "Flip flap she flied" bit. I suspect quite a few of our campfire songs had crossed the pond as we also used to sing such as "Land of the Silver Birch" and "My paddle's keen and bright" (another thread on this elsewhere).
