I believe the Festival Director to whom Lizzie is referring is on holiday for a few weeks. That being the case, maybe best to leave the matter of an apology until he returns.

It might just have been a 'spur of the moment' emailed comment by someone who was under pressure to get many problems sorted as the festival date neared, in which case an apology could easily be given and graciously received.

On the other hand....
