Members of Bude Folk Club, who meet at The Falcon Hotel, Bude on alternate Sundays are organising a charity concert to raise funds in support of The Swansea Valley Miners Appeal Fund, following the worst mining accident in Wales for generations, last week at Gleison Colliery. Cornwall, like Wales, has a strong mining heritage, infact many miners went to Wales to find work when the tin mines here in Cornwall became financially unsustainable, so it was felt fitting to help support the miner's families. The concert will be held on Sunday 2nd October at 8pm at The Falcon Hotel, Bude. Admission will be £5 per person. The concert will feature Roger Bryant, the man who wrote 'Cornish Lads' The words of which are still visible painted on the wall at South Crofty Tin Mine, The Barrel Rock Boys, Bude's popular shanty Crew, as well as a whole host of other local singers and musicians. Do please come and support this worthy cause, and enjoy a fantastic evening of music and song. Please pass on to any interested parties who may enjoy the evening too.
