First, it was because I don't play and I didn't want to be dependent on finding a musician if I wanted to sing. Nowadays, it's because I've grown to love the freedom it gives me to explore and present the song, all its nuances and corners, in my and its own time. And the edge of exposure. And, as Crow Sister said two years ago on this thread... "I do think there is something of the sacred in it - though that itself is equally to do with nakedness and intimacy likewise"... (you still there, Crow Sister?!) :)
