Symptoms: The cursor freezes intermittently, and when this happens there is occasionally a high pitched buzzing sound from the tower (although the speakers are turned right down).

Also, I have experienced problems turning the computer off. I just get the message "Windows is shutting down " but it doesn't, I have to push the off switch.   

Does this sound like anything familiar ?
