Rehearsing with my fiddler tonight, I was amazed to hear her talk about a "shottish" (accent on first syllable). In Scotland I have always heard the dance called a "skott-eesh" (accent on second syllable). She assured me that in the contradance community, at any rate on the Eastern Seaboard (she comes from Virginia) everybody says "shottish". Is she pulling my leg ? Murray
