The James Bond novel is "Dr. No". Wikipedia has an entry for the song: "Reference is made to this song in Ian Fleming's novel Dr. No. The character Honey Rider is singing it when James Bond first meets her on the beach at Crab Key." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianne_%28Terry_Gilkyson_song%29 I first learned this song from the Gilkyson/Easy Riders single and have been looking for more "racy" verses ever since reading Dr. No, until Joe pointed me to this thread. Unfortunately many of the lyrics above don't seem to scan to the pop version of the tune. There's some potential confusion because there are at least a couple of unrelated "Mary-Ann" songs. Also, the Gilkyson version isn't a true Calypso rhythm with the typical strong off-beat accents -- it's plain Rhumba rhythm -- so maybe the original Trinidad tune from the 1940's was somewhat different. Still lots to discover here!
