@GUEST.Sally. Brandon I have similar version of those same lyrics that my grandmother showed to me fairly recently. I have also been trying to find out what the song was called or if it is one of those old songs that are a mishmosh of lyrics from other songs of that time. Here is the song my great grandmother used to sing to my grandmother when she was a little girl (as per a very old hand written note): I have heard the Mavis singing She oft times sang tae me By yon bonnie banks & by yon bonnie braes When I was but a child upon her knee It was there within a mile of (o') old Edinburgh toon Through the old hoose the melody still clings For there's not a place in all the world And I'd give the world to hear again The songs my mither used tae sing The thing is, that there seems to be a bit of the paper missing, and if would be great to fill in the gap for her if possible.
