I've always been strictly amateur in performing music, but recently I've agreed to play at an event, and then I found out they want to pay me. Which is fine with me!

But before they put my name on the "bill" a snag developed. It turns out my name is the same as the name (or stage name) of an up-and-coming pop music singer/songwriter out of Nashville. So what am I supposed to do in that situation? Get a new name like movie actors do?

I suppose I could just go as "Taconicus" – but that seems kind of pretentious, like "Sting" or "Boy George."
