Luke Kelly made changes to Raglan Road which do not improve the song. First line Kelly sings "of on an autumn day" whereas Kavanagh wrote "on an autumn day". Perhaps the Dubliner thought the "of" was more in keeping with the poet's rural background. Also in the same verse he sings "I passed along the enchanted way" instead "I walked along...". In the last verse he sings "That I had loved", it is "That I had wooed not not as I should", which sounds better. Assonance rules especially in Irish poetry. But I still love Luke Kelly's singing.
