One of my favourite memories as a Halliard was actually not on stage but in the performers tent at the Cambridge Folk Festival and we were due to go on soon. Lots of notable and lesser performers in the beer tent including in the corner, the legendary blues and ragtime singer/ guitarist Rev Gary Davis who was blind. As he sat in the corner quietly playing- up on stage were the Watersons who wacked straight into a superb unaccompanied version of Hal an Tow- except Gary Davis loved their singing and proceeded to accompany them in the tent - on his guitar- with a strong blues twist and it really did sound great!!! It was actually what folk music was like in those years what I hope it might become again-open to all types of music but most of all not taking itself so seriously- the Hal n Tow Blues- I loved it. pavane The cake idea is a seriously good one - had a look on the site really nice cakes. Would be seriously interested in suggestions for the design for Nickies cake. A present from me & Nige & Chelmsford FC- come on Nige we can go halvies. 1st suggestion?? I await serious proposals. Dom - who had the Gibson?? Dave Moran
