I liked a lot of Gene Vincent but - like Eddie Cochran - I felt he was playing at being a rock and roller. It didn't seem natural. Elvis sounded natural. As did Jerry Lee Lewis - and even Bil Haley. But both Gene and Eddie seemed, to my ears, that they were merely mimicking Elvis.
