Hi Matthew, I wonder could you give me more information on the claim that Sylvester Gaffney was actually Leo Maguire. I have discussed this with Fergie, you put up the Sylvester Gaffney songs, and he is convinced there was a Sylvester Gaffney, and he located his grave in Glasnevin for the Sunday Walk during the Frank Harte festival, where one of his songs was sung. I know Wikipedia claims he was Leo Maguire, so that is probably an indication he wasn't! I could not find the jim Dixon link.
