Right Don, I've lived through many, many elections in my 70 years plus and I have seen the way politicians (some) come to the table full of youthful promise and promises to represent us. It does make one rather cynical when one watches and listens to how they are gradually subsumed into the rotten and corrupt systems that both our islands have for governance.
