...and I should add on a more positive note, there are many, many young people getting involved in music, in fact I'd argue many more than of my generation (I'm in my 40's). I don't think it's ever been easier - instruments are cheaper in real terms than ever, and the amount of on-line tuition (and inspiration) via Youtube in particular is quite staggering. So I think despite all the problems faced by young people today music (of any kind including"folk") is in rude health.
