Gallup personnel are today saying that it looks like a popular-electoral split. Romney by popular, Obama by electoral.

And here (according to Gallup) is the difference: Obama leads in the west, Obama leads in the northeast, Obama leads in the upper midwest...all by a little. Romney leads in the deep south...by A LOT! Hence the popular vote lead.

So if we throw out the electoral college, the former Confederacy picks the President of the United States of America.

Hmmm.
