ive googled this song before but found nothing but did it this week and found these comments.
im 36 and live in newcastle and my great aunt used to sing it to me and my brother and my mother before us when we were little. i now sing it to my 2 children. ive always wondered if anyone else knew it as noboby ive spoken to ever recognises it. my auntie wrote it down for me and even sang it to me on her deathbed as i lomged to hear her singing it one last time. it holds so many happy memories for me. I would be very interested to know more about it and am so pleased it has been loved by other people too/

there is also a chorus but havent got my piece of paper to hand i only ever really remember the chorus. my aunt was a trained singer and she use to warble this to me.... i love it!!!
