And apparently, 9, those rations represented a vast improvement in the diet for some folk (so I am told, I wasn't there). Mind you there was a thriving grey market. I had a family of elderly spinster great-aunts who had retired from their family (country town) ironmongery business. They never went short of butter, eggs or milk due to ex-customers passing on their surpluses. Paws
