Returning to the thread... Billy Bragg's 'Between the wars' seems to perfectly capture the feeling of living in Thatcher's Britain in the 1980s. There has to be a bitter irony that whilst she reportedly spent her final days in the 5* Ritz hotel, many of her contemporaries in former coal mining and steel communities are living out their days in towns and villages blighted by decay and deprivation.
