GU4 (Guffaw) are the guests at Lewes Saturday Folk Club in Sussex, England, on Saturday 13th. April.

GU4 sing in glorious four-part harmony with plenty of choruses. From the Grand Union Folk Club, Leicester (hence the name) they are Pete Burnham, Miggy Campbell, Karen Harris and Bill Wilkes. Armed only with a set of pitch pipes, they perform a wide variety of material ranging from gentle and sensitive love songs that can hold an audience rapt in silence, to raucous chorus numbers delivered with such verve that even the most reticent are encouraged to join in.

Their repertoire comes straight from the English tradition or from contemporary writers such as Peter Bellamy, Graeme Miles, Benny Graham, George Thomas and their own Miggy Campbell. Their renditions are well-crafted and carry a spark of spontaneity delivered with enthusiasm and a healthy slice of good humour.

GU4 will give us two forty-five minute sets and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience doing a song or tune if they wish. Entrance is £6 and everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.

We have a loyalty card. Six visits earn you £5 off an evening when admission is £5 or more.
