We spent a delightful two and one half hours listening to this two CD compilation of Pete Seeger relating two dozen of his personal tales. The album was produced by Jeff Haynes, a world-renowned percussionist, composer and producer, who had worked with Pete on an earlier recording project - the 2009 Grammy award-winning CD, "Tomorrow's Children". During this effort Pete, as he is likely to do at the drop of a pick, told Jeff a number of stories and Jeff found them interesting enough to record. He spent the next three and one half years turning these narratives into a two CD compilation. Each of the stories is backed up by very tasteful music played by a passel of musicians on a wide variety of instruments from cello to obsidian chimes and from mbira to saxophone. The music is kept to a very low level so that it enhances the spoken word but never distracts from it. The overall effect is simply amazing. Bev and Jerry
