Thanks, Marie. I know how much Karen really cherished the times she spent with you in Maine (Damariscotta?). She talked glowingly about her visits, and always seemed so happy to be in a place where she could see the ocean. I never got to show her my house, which was a five-minute walk from Rockland Harbor, with the sound of two different foghorns outside my bedroom window. She would have loved that, too, but I never managed to be around at the same time she was visiting over the three years I lived in Rockland. My condolences to you. Those 40-year friendships are immensely important, and losing Karen must leave a hole in the fabric of your life. It seems like you knew her the longest of us all.
