In the course of the trial it came out that the vast US security machine was unable to crack the cryptography used by Wikileaks to safeguard the anonymity of their sources, which in turn meant that a direct link between Manning's computer in Iraq and WikiLeaks Electronic drop box could not be forensically proved.
