GUEST,George Frampton Guise Dancing in West Cornwall (1) Guise Dancing in West Cornwall 30 Oct 13

Having had a wonderful week in the St Ives and, like I do, make enquiries about 'fings traditional' in the area, I thought I'd prepare a short article on Guise Dancing on the Penwith peninsula (Penzance/St Ives/Mousehole) viz the one with Lands End on it.

Beyond what you can find on YouTube, the 'net and some of the key textbooks (AJ Hamilton-Jenkin, etc), I'd like to hear from anyone involved with the post-1970 Revival, and especially what music and dance steps might be involved. Some of the older texts seem to say it was more of a Mummers Play, but I'd like to be corrected!

(Apologies for earlier non-proofread text erroneously alluding to Olave Baden-Powell's famous girls' organisation)
