I disagree with nearly everything in that article.

I was a fan of the show back in the 1980's. Actually, it was how I met my late wife - we were in a club that did some Doctor Who-related entertaining for children in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

The new version of the show, however, seems to exist on a different plane. Certainly, it's the "same" show, but the writing is on a much more adult level, the special effects are far more up-to-date, and I find the characters much more "emotionally engaging." Sometimes, IMO, a bit too much so. (I think there are a bit too many tearjerkers, this time around.)

Ultimately, everyone has a right to their opinion, but after reading that article, my first thought was, "What show was he watching?"
